Cambridge Residential 2017

Cambridge Residential 2017

Hello I’m Johnnie Moore and welcome to King’s College Cambridge, the rather splendid setting for our three day residential workshop this summer on the theme of Unhurried Facilitation Viv and I have been facilitators for over twenty years and we’ve come to realise that this word Unhurried is a great way to capture we think is the core quality you need as a facilitator It’s the ability to respond gracefully and flexibly to the unexpected wherever that may come from… from something strange at the venue… from your sponsor perhaps… or a difficult participant in the meeting We’re going to spend the three days using a whole range of activities and conversations to explore how you can bring more of this quality to your work So we’re in this fabulously traditional environment But we’re not going to give you a traditional classroom experience There’ll be no powerpoint not many flip charts and we won’t be doing that “if you turn to page 94 of your manual” thing but what we are going to do is share with you tips and methods to get the very best out of groups And we’ll put the focus on your performance as a facilitator We’ll use some activities to help you develop the spontaneity and presence that will give you the edge in working with groups We’ve had really good feedback from participants who came to our residential here last summer and to our residential in Melbourne earlier this year and you can see a video of that on our website Participants come to this from around the world to really deepen their practice as facilitators and I think this contributes to a really great atmosphere for exploration and learning So we’ll look forward to seeing you here in Cambridge this summer
