Success Lives Here: Saad – Purdue Village Apartments

[MUSIC PLAYING] My name is Saad Tanvir. I’m a third year PhD student
in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics here at Purdue,
and I live at Purdue Village. Purdue Village is
really convenient, especially for me with
my family, as well. Like my daughter and my wife. So I usually take the bus. I take the Gold. It comes every 10 minutes
right in front of our house and drops me off at
Armstrong 10 minutes later. So it’s really
convenient for me. And that allows me
not to drive to campus and leave the car
available for my family, so that they’re not
dependent on me to come back, and then we’d go somewhere. My wife drives, so. These activities that the club,
as well as the RA, when they organize programs, activities– I love sports, so I played in
a lot of intramurals, soccer especially. I played badminton,
I played volleyball, dodgeball, some sports that
even I wasn’t very adept, that good at. But I played them, because
then I met a lot of people through that. So that was made my
outlet from school. Living in such a community
helped me adapt and learn, I guess more efficiently. Living on campus has helped me
network, foremost academically, socially. That has helped me grow
as an individual based on that networking and
different cultures. I’ve had the association
with people and students that come from different
areas within the US, as well as internationally. We have to get out
of our comfort zone. It helps you build your
character, essentially. Build as a professional. Because in the real
world, you face situations in which you meet
someone new, someone different. And these experiences are
what are going to count. These experiences are a once
in a lifetime sort of thing. You don’t go to
college every day. Or, you know, you’re not
a freshman every so often. So this experience is priceless.
