The StreamMagic Platform – Key Technologies in the Edge Series | Cambridge Audio

It was clear from the start of the
development process that we would need Edge to be right up to date with modern
methods of listening to music. StreamMagic has been powering Cambridge Audios network players since 2011 and the latest version is installed on the Edge
NQ. It’s a proprietary music streaming solution and is at the heart of
our award-winning music streaming products. We develop the software
ourselves and we’re able to react quickly to support new technologies and
audio formats. This in-house approach also means we have full control over the
user interface. Whenever we create a new function you’ll be prompted to update to
the latest version of the software. In addition to supporting Airplay and Spotify
Connect, Chromecast Built-in allows you to send audio from your favourite apps
directly to the Edge NQ from the apps servers. The phone or tablet becomes a
control device rather than the source, saving battery and freeing up your device.
Chromecast works seamlessly with Android devices and iOS applications, just tap
the Chromecast icon within the app select your Edge NQ as the destination
and start casting content from hundreds of apps at up to 24-bit 96 kilohertz
quality. To access files stored on a network drive or hard drive, you’ll need
to download the Edge app available for iOS and Android
everyday controls allow you to select sources build play cues and adjust volume, whilst the settings menu has a host of fine control options. Change screen
brightness, adjust input levels and set Auto power-down times with just a swipe
of a finger.
